Community Engagements

CSS strongly believes in giving back. We have been involved with our community as dedicated supporters of charitable organizations that provide irreplaceable services. CSS provides support and sponsorship of various fundraising initiatives throughout the year. These are charities that were highly treasured by CSS’ founders, Wayne and Adele Reid, and we’re honoured to continue bringing awareness and support to these causes.

Little by little, we CAN make a difference!

Ronald McDonald House® Southern Alberta is a compassionate, safe and affordable home away from home for out-of-town families whose children are receiving treatment in a local Calgary hospital. The purpose of Ronald McDonald House® Southern Alberta is to keep families together and provide a supportive environment while the family member is being treated for their illness.

CSS has been a long-time supporter of RMHC in all of their fundraising efforts. RMHC's prominent event, the Charity Golf Classic Tournament is held every year in July and brings over 140+ golfers, enthusiasts, and supporters together for a day of golf, story-telling, silent auction, great eats and a rewarding engaging experience. Supporting RMHC, also includes devoted sponsorship of their annual events, such as the Cassie Campbell Street Hockey Festival that operated until its cancellation in 2015 due to economic decline.

Being dedicated sponsors of RMHC, when presented with the opportunity to support not only our charity of choice, but to equally support Make-A- Wish Foundation, we couldn’t say no! This annual event allows for a deeper level of engagement for our staff members to be involved in this amazing fundraising effort. We have employees that will PINK their hair, shave their heads at the finale Roughnecks Game, and even some of the staff had their BEARDS PINKed to show support!
Ronald McDonald House Charities® Southern Alberta and Make-A- Wish® Southern Alberta have joined forces to bring Hair Massacure to Calgary! This unique hair colouring, hair donating and head shaving event originated in Edmonton in 2003 and has since raised over $10 million for Alberta charities. Returning now for many years in Calgary, Hair Massacure is gaining momentum every year. No hair, don’t care! Pink hair, don’t care!
United Way is in the community impact business. What we mean by community impact is: changing social conditions and creating opportunities for a better life for individuals, families and communities. Our goal is for our communities to be measurably better off as a result of the work of United Way and others.
Being an organization that assists many areas of community and social need in the Calgary area, it is always our pleasure to eagerly assist our clients in their direct fundraising efforts supporting the United Way. CSS’ support ranges anywhere from silent auctions held by our clients where all proceeds, donated, and collected go directly to help their community efforts to golf tournaments which are popular with our clients. Where opportunities exist to deliver support, donations, and event participation, CSS always looks forward to supporting this worthwhile cause.
CSS - Wayne and Adele Reid Scholarship

One Scholarship of variable value is awarded to a full-time student who will be enrolled in the second, third, or fourth year of any Bissett School of Business program in the upcoming fall semester. Recipient must have completed ENTR 2201 or 2301, as well as a DFS (directed field study) or co-op work term.

Criteria: 1) Academic achievement; 2) Financial need; 3) Demonstrated determination and drive required to succeed as an entrepreneur
Anytime an opportunity exists to promote and encourage a student, it should be taken. Being able to provide financial assistance to a deserving individual looking to become an entrepreneur will always have a rewarding feeling. This Scholarship was structured many years ago by CSS’ original founders, and continues to provide a legacy in the Reid’s name. Over the years, CSS has received a number of thank you letters directly from the Scholarship recipient with gratitude being expressed for the assistance it provided. It’s inspiring for CSS to be able to contribute and be part of a progressing learning structure.
